:the unusual, almost sweet smelling musk smell that trans-pecos rats give off. All 9 of mine have the same unusually sweet smelling musk. At first I thought they just smelled different than all the other species I keep but then I figured that it seems to be when they are upset and musk me.
I have never noticed that musk from Trans-pecos rats. I will be sure to check though the next time i handle them. The worst I ever had was from a WC TX rat, he would musk all over me.

::i was just curious...what rat snake smells the worst as far as musk? all i've ever caught so far are Corn snakes and Black rats. Black rats have got to be THE WORST in my opinion!
