In Reply to: How much color variation within the subspecies? posted by Steve House on February 09, 2000 at 16:54:21:
: : I am wondering if there is a possibility that this is indeed a pure "taiwan"- if just a rather drab one. In other words, how much color variation might one expect in a true E.t. friesi? What signs should I look for to distinguish between pure friesi and a subspecies hybrid? Could this animal simply improve in color with size and age?
Steve, I have several Taiwan Beauties, all from different, well-known breeders. Some are more olive-colored, some more yellow. I think there is some definite variation in them. Lloyd Lemke's strain was well known for it's yellow color, but many of the other ones I've seen are more greenish.
