"Can I follow your spec sheets format that you've supplied KJ?"
Those are KJ's specs that I used from the Care Sheet he had already finished. Of course, that's the format he wants for the site. Get writing. Doesn't have to be a Texan. We would rather hunt deer this time of year anyway!
"Shannon Brown goes to Texas at least once and sometimes more each year to herp. So that would add to the confusion."
I'm not a real Texan either. Grew up chasing rubber boas in the Pacific Northwest (and other places my father moved the family to over the years--like Arizona, Illinois, and Wisconsin). Moved to Texas in 1982. I'm NOT leaving. Besides my wife Patsy, who is an El Paso native, wouldn't let me.
"KJ doesn't say great too often. lol."
Then thank him for me; he NEEDS help. Double LOL!
"I'm thinking there was someone else who had a trio that were a year ahead of mine. I just can't place a name to it yet."
If you think of that breeder, or that breeder reads this, then let's talk offline via e-mail.
"I don't favor breeder loans from just a breeding view point. I'll loan one of my females to you next season since your breeding her for a specific reason."
I do when I don't want to wait three or four more years. At my age, taking on an urgent project is NOT a good idea. This is an urgent project because I don't have 12 years to waste. I'd be way too old by then. LOL. But my sense is that I have to line breed to this male; don't think sib to sib matings will enhance the founder male's coloration, although I have been wrong many times before! Again, let's talk offline. E-mail me.
"Have you thought how many females and/or pairs you would want to hold back from that breeding for your project?"
Yes, 2.2 would be about right. Any less and I'd be paranoid; any more and I'd be hording these beautiful bairdi! All the rest will be up for grabs every season.
"I went to your web site. Very nice. I recommend for everyone to visit it. What happened to the Rosy Boas. I think there was a partner you had who must have worked with them."
Thanks. I tend to fill up a web site with LOTS of stuff. You had best be a reader when visiting my site or suffer. The Rosy boas were all sold save for one WW albino female that my partner has as a reminder of our rosy boa days. It was time to move on to the Colubrid projects we were never able to get to because we had 75 rosy boas! And as I work for the goverment, 9/11 intruded into my life and I HAD to divest myself of all herps until this past August. My old partner, Jon Esposito, has Western hogs and a smattering of other Colubrids he's working with, including those alterna lovelies and some other kings.
"My partner Del Alspaw and I have 1.2 white water rosy boas from Santa Cruz Reptiles. The females are normal and the male is a golden eye albino. All White Water Canyon locale. They are cooling down this year and we might give breeding a try if they look good when they come out."
Steve at Santa Cruz is tops. So are his Capes! Good luck with the WWs. Rosy boas are fun to breed. I just gave them good care and good heat--then waited for the little heads to start showing up in the trays as the females gave birth. Nothing more fun then to look up at a tray and see a couple little minature rosy boas staring out at you.
Happy holidays again
