::My female blue beauty (who is a slithering garbage disposal) just refused a meal... does it mean she could be gravid or does that only happen in pythons? I know it's stupid but I'm new to all of this breeding stuff. She's been with the male for a while now... even though they haven't been "caught" in the act, he's been through the ropes before and knows how to get the job done... Her refusing a meal a sign of being possibly gravid? Or am I getting my hopes up? =)
::Any help would be appreciated...
::Thanks
::

:
::Not feeding can be a sign of a female being gravid but not necessarily. My female taeniura will only refuse food TOTALLY when they are close to the end and almost ready to lay (but that could vary from one to the other). My female blue will refuse SOME meals this time of year even though I back off on offering food to every 12 to 14 days or so and she is not introduced to the male for a couple of months yet.
: I brumated them in the past but found that they produce FOR ME just as well with just a slight cooling period before pairing them up.
: Whether you choose to brumate or just have a temp drop period you will find that copulation is more likely to happen if the pair is introduced every few days instead of being kept together all the time.
: I hope this is helpful and good luck.
