redtail rat

I have had my redtail rat snake for about 3 month it eats graet and everythong
but when it was given to me it had a lump about 8 inch up its tail about the size of
a dime.Today when I looked at him the lump has a open sore on it.Anyone know what it mite
be or the cause mite be. I'm thinking he is wild caught.Also it dose not look infected.
