I recently purchased a nice Blonde Pecos Ratsnake at a show and when I brought it home, set up a shoebox and all the basic needs. That night while talking to a fellow herpetophile I fed it. My friend warned me not to feed it so soon and he has learned the hard way to let snakes have a 3-4 day period where you don't even look at them, don't touch them, don't even open the lid on the shoebox or open the cage door. I really respect his opinion but is it overkill? The reason he said all of this was due to the threat of regurgitation. He seemed very concerned that I fed the snake and I kinda kick myself because of it.
Tell me what your opinions are on the acclimation time for a snake. I talked with another friend just minutes after and his opinion was totally the opposite. He said throw food in and if they eat, they eat. If they don't, they don't. Im anxious to hear what the Ratsnake experts think.
Sincerely,
Travis
