I fully agree with Dave. By and large, these are nervous animals which are prone to biting but, given time and constant handling, can be tamed down.
Have fun!

:Actually I'm going to disagree (or at least half disagree). You definitely need fast reflexes -- radiateds are high strung, fast, racer-like animals. But c.b. animals seldom strike and are fairly tractable. I NEVER use gloves for mine and they never even attempt to bite though they do sometimes do their vertical neck puffing threat gesture.
:As far as care, I keep mine in a sterilite rack system (32 qt.). The temp is low 80's with a hot spot of about 88. The temp drops 3-5 degrees at night. I have used both aspen and newspaper as substrate and both work well. High humidity is very beneficial as is a large basin for drinking/bathing. Radiata have very fast metabolisms and will eat constantly. I feed mine 1-2 thawed adult mice about 2-3x per week - sometimes more often. For breeding they should NOT be brumated but females fed even more -- breeding receptivity seems to be cued by food supply and possibly female's fat stores. After just one breeding (which happens readily in females with good body weight) you will get 2-5 clutches of 6-12 eggs! They are fast in every regard -- growers, movers, metabolism and breeding.
:I've been keeping radiata for more than 10 years now, and I still really like them! Just keep a nice big food supply on hand!
