I found this description on some English website and was very surprised, Not that the info in entirely wrong but the comments about small children, dogs and cats, to feed live, and feed rabbits! Wow, just goes to show you how much funny info there is out there.
DogStar
"Rat Snakes are often bought as pets when they are small - they don't stay that way for long though and they can reach a size of 4 - 6 feet long and are constrictors. They are not recommended if you have small children in the house or even dogs and cats.
They are usually fairly well behaved but any wild animal can turn on it's owner so always handle your Rat Snake with respect or it may bite you.
They require large tank to do well, this should be at least 3 feet long and 2 feet high and wide, bark chippings or vermiculite make a decent substrate. The substrate should be changed regularly to keep any possible infections away.
They should have a large water bowl with fresh water daily.
Feed these carnivores on live rodents like mice at first, moving on to rats and even small rabbits, it is possible with training to get them to accept dead animals in the form of defrosted frozen food."
