My yearling black snake has lost his mind I think. For the past two days, he has done a strange behavior that is hard to describe, but I will try. He has a stick that goes from the bottom right of his 10 gallon tank to the top left back corner. It is diagonal from the bottom to the top of the tank. He climbs on it frequently.
For the past two days, he makes a climbing motion up the stick but he goes nowhere. Kind of like running in place. Someone watching described it as a “moonwalk” dance move. He has done it for hours at a time.
This is the snake that regurgitated about 2.5 weeks ago and has been anorexic since. Today I broke down and bought him a live pinky and he came off the stick, ate the mouse and promptly went back to his moonwalk. I tried to get a mpeg of him but he stops while the camera is on.
As I write this he got off the stick and went into his warm hide, so he is not uncoordinated in any way.
I thought he might be “itchy” but see no sign of skin irritation and he is not due to shed at this time.
Any thoughts? OCD?
