I suspect that Kaiser had just entered into a rapid shed cycle in response to the presence of the mite infestation and/or the possibility of blister disease or some other malady that he was also dealing with. It seemed to be an uphill battle from the start. A brave fight was fought by both snake and owner, but I think the deck was already stacked, compliments of a certain pet store chain which I will not mention by name in this post. But some PET COmpanies don't seem to provide adequate care, do they? It really makes me appreciate how healthy my ratsnakes are right now, and illustrates the importance of doing all we can to start out with healthy specimens. Again, good luck with your next one. :Just wondering if you used anything to treat the mites that might have affected your snake?? Thats what it sounds like to me, if it had just shed as in your previous post and had eaten. Just something to look at if you treated the cage for mites.

::I woke up this morning to what I thought was my Rat, Kaiser, dead. She wouldnt move at all and was very stiff. I had gotten a container and picked her up and put her in to take back to the pet store when I noticed her head was faintly moving. Her whole body looked stiff and a bit twisted. After being in the container for a little over a hour she began showing more life but her bottom half still wouldnt move. Her tongue wasnt lively...it would come out, no flicker, and then slowly back in. I thought she was dehydrated but she has always had a full water bowl in her cage. Maybe she came from the shop like that and it finally caught up to her. On the way to the pet shop she began showing much more life actually moving around in her container. I explained the problem to the Pet Co guy and he said he would have her checked out by a vet and take care of the bill. I am very saddened by this though I am at least thankful that they are having her looked at. I know the vet they are going to and he is very good. I just hope there is some help for her.
