rufodorsata used to be very common in the market. Tens of thousands of them were imported into the US. But when people found out that they weren't really rat snakes (more likely Natricines) and that they preferred fish and frogs to eat, people stopped buying them and the importers stopped bringing them in.
E. bimaculata are a totally different story. They are great snakes to keep and breed.
