:Just looking for a little advice. I have had this pair for about a year and kept them out of hibernation last year. All my other colubrids have had their last meals and are getting ready to be cooled. I have been told that ridleyi should not be cooled down but a friend of mine says that he does. What the word on the street? Thanks for all your help. DAVE
Except for grabowski, ridleyi live further south than all of the other taeniura. They live in the southern tip of thailand into the part of malaysia connected to thailand where it does not get cold. The book on elaphe by Schulz states that you can do the following for a month or two. Cut down their light, raise the humidity and drop the temp to as low as the upper 60's. If cooled as much as for other colubrids you run the risk of respiratory problems. I did not even cut off my blues heat source this past year and they produced a fertile clutch of 14 and they live further north than ridleyi. I would think that cutting off ridleyi's heat source and maintaining them in the lower 70's for a month or two would be sufficient. Randy Whittington
