I disagree. 73-76 is just about right on. 86-88 is far too warm. A little bit of supplemental heat wouldn't do any harm (provided it is only a little), but it really isn't necessary despite all those that tell you it is. Your snakes will live longer if they're kept cooler. They'll especially live longer if you make the effort to brumate them each winter. Proper brumation results in almost total suspension of metabolism, and it is my belief that every month spent in such condition, is compensated for by a month of active life. If a snake hypothetically has 180 months of active life, and is active for 12 months per year, it then lives for only 15 years. If it is brumated for three or four months per year, then it will live for 20 years or more.
