::I was wondering if Jeff or Dwight or anyone else that breeds albino quadrivittata has ever had this trait show up in their offspring. Is this generally caused by excessive inbreeding or does something else generally cause this trait to show up?

:Hey Chris,
:So far I havent produced any bugeyed albino yellows in my colony, but I have seen bugeyed 'quads' before. I saw a pair of yearling/subadult albino 'greenish' rats several years ago at the B'ham, Alabama show. Not sure what causes it though. Inbreeding will only produce 'popeyes' if the original stock carried the trait to begin with. It doesnt just manifest itself out of nowhere, as some might lead you to believe, :)

:Sorry I don't have more answers for ya, all I can say is thankfully none have ever popped up in my colony. The ones I saw sure were ugly little buggers! FYI, there is a pic of a popeyed albino speckled king in Bechtel's book on reptile color variants.. page 147.

:Later,
:dg
