Why can't ecology and behavior be characters that influence our decisions about phylogeny. I think we need to look at everything.
I think you're right here, but a lot of it depends on what your definition of a species is. Most phylogeneticists take the evolutionary definition. Most ecologists/behaviorists take a biological or phenetic definition.
It'll probably never be the total truth,
