Well, my corn was gone for three months... I never found out where he was hiding...but I found him when my mom watered a plant in her room and he was in it looking for water. Of course you hopefully don't have to wait until he's starved of water like mine was. I also found my little corn, just recently, trying to get into the mouse cage! LOL I didn't even know he had escaped.
