Yes, I believe there are a couple different kinds of DNA testing. I donated a Sonoran lyre snake to a guy who's doing DNA testing this summer. I believe he wants to try to figure out what they are related to. I don't think DNA tests can determine the position of a taxa by itself, however. I believe we'll have to consider several different methods to come up with a scheme people can live with.
