Not sure who is giving you flack, probably someone looking for a 'deal' and thinks your animals are worth less than what you are asking. I'm sure anyone who has been a vendor at a show knows what I am talking about. A person comes by and looks at your animals, thinks they are nice, but then they tell you all about how the guy across the room has them for $10 less. My personal opinion is if someone else has it cheaper, then buy it from them... don't come to me whining about it! :)) My original post was just to let folks know the prices are finally nearing the reasonable range, at least in terms of what I would be willing to pay for one. Some folks might pay more than $100 or so, but certainly not me!! Just my opinion!
:I'm not being argumentative at all, but when I went to BHB's site, they had the albino or brindle double homozygous with whitesided for $750. The single recessive whitesides were priced at $250.
Regardless of what is listed on their website, their prices were much lower this past weekend at the Tinley Expo. As Andre posted below, apparently they were priced that low at the MARRS expo as well. Maybe this was a 'show' special, I certainly don't know.
:I'm really just trying to establish a fair market value; not undercutting myself and others, but not gouging my customers. FYI, I paid Elite Reptiles $1000 for a lone female, albeit two years ago. I just thought they would hold more value than this.
Ouch, that certainly hits ya where it hurts.. :(( I bought a pair of adult double hets last year in Daytona that threw one albino whiteside last summer, but then my female died in September, :( I paid less than $150 for the adult pair of double hets. I have since acquired an albino female, het whitesided to pair up with the double het male next season. She is nearing the 36" mark, might breed next year, might not.
I almost feel bad for posting the price of the albino licorice now, I just thought some of you out there might be interested to know current market values. I certainly did not mean for the info to be inflammatory, especially to MYexotix. I have seen their stock in person and without a doubt they have THE nicest licorice stick black rats in the business, hands down. You really do get what you pay for.
