According to some taxonomists the Emory's, or Great Plains ratsnake, is divided into two subspecies, emoryi and meahllmorum. Some would have the Emory's a separate sps. from the corn snake, thus the scientific names would be Elaphe emoryi emoryi and E. e. meahllmorum. (At this point I'm favoring this classification.) Other workers have made a case for Great Plains and corns to be all one sps, thus the classification would be like this: E. guttata guttata, E. g. emoryi, and E. g. meahllmorum, with all of them being subspecies of guttata. Sorry for being so wordy, but thought a review would be in order. Maybe it's not even what you were talking about, LOL. TC.
