I know that people use these forums to learn, and I don't want to be rude, but it irks me when people assume they can have lower standards for their pets' health than for their own. We have a responsibility to each and every animal in our care to give it, at the bare minimum, a life equal in quality to what it would experience in the wild. Most of us aspire to give our pets better conditions than that. They are not toys for our amusement, they are living, sentient creatures who deserve respect and care, and whose lives depend on our willingness to make a little effort.
Now, on to answering your question: Snakes are not scavengers, they are hunters. They eat fresh food. There is little point in keeping a rotten mouse as it's unlikely your snake will accept it at this point.
