Shedding...opinions wanted..

I've got a baby rat snake - Don't know what kind, Maybe yellow or a yellow morph & about 3 months old ...anyway, it had it's second shed (as I was told), and it left about 1 1/2 - 2 inches of shed on its tail. What should I do? Leave it & see if it comes off with the next shed or try to soak it off? I might add that the snake is pretty small & we're afraid of hurting more than helping...
