I dont think it is so much that the yellow rat replaced it but rather habitat destruction narrowed the natural corridor and they integraded.
:I am interested in finding rossalleni in the wild. All the information I have seen lately says there rarer now. Does anyone know where nice ones can still be found in the wild? I don't buy this about the Yellow Rat replacing it. I can't see why Yellow Rats would be more succesful in altered farm country habitat than the Everglades Rat. Also there is still large areas of suitable habitat left in the Everglades and Big Cypress. Thanks for any advise or information, I will be going to south Florida soon.
