First of all I would try to feed pre-killed mice. Just grab the mouse by it's tail and smash it against a hard surface. It is much humaner for the mouse to die that way. Second, your snake won't run the risk of getting hurt by the mouse. Then grab a pair of tongues and offer the mouse by wiggling it in front of the snakes hide. You need to give your snake a hide so it will feel secure in it's cage. Then when it starts feeding you should leave it alone for a few weeks. Only change water and offer food. That way the snake will get used by your interaction. After a little while you can gently take it out for (small) handling sessions. It looks to me your snake will eat without problems the next feeding. the latching on to your hands was a pure feeding responce. No snake will latch on a not let go out of anger.

Good luck.

:I tried to fead my rat snake a live mouse and he bit him 5 times and didnt eat him, the next day the mouse died from his wound. And
:I took Loki(my everglades rat snake) out of his cage and started to handle him and he bit me. He latched on to me and wouldnt let go, the fear or hurting his mouth kept me from puling him of me. He finaly let go and now im gona have a small scar. And he tried to swallow the mouse but he spit him out alive, Im amost sure that the mouse bit him in the back part of his mouth. because now I cant even get him to eat a f/t mouse. He was raised on those and he wont eat em, maby he didnt get bit in the mouth, but didnt snakes evolve mouths that are vertually impossible to get dammaged when eating mice? How come he wont eat, ive had him almost a week now . Should I wait another week before feeding him so he can get adjusted to his cage? did he only bite me because it was only the second day I had him? hes pretty big but not full grown and hes never eaten a live mouse before, does he have the instinct to eat a live mouse without hurting his mouth, is his mouth probly biten from the time he atempted to swallow the mouse? will he bite me again? well thanx for any reply you make
