Awesome? Yes. Locality? It was found somewhere on the surface of Mars by an unmanned probe, and returned to earth via teleport beam. Most papered herpetologists believe to be an escaped pet that probably hitched a ride on one of the first Viking expeditions to the red planet. Exposure to UV rays caused an increase in red pigment, which came in handy on the martian soil to keep him concealed from predators.
