:Kingmilk,
:Hi. I don't know where to begin, but I must insist that you seem to have the process all backwards. When some new "thing" pops up (in herpetology or otherwise), the burden of proof rests squarely on the shoulders of the person making the claim, not on the establishment or status quo. Certainly just having one in one's possession doesn't meet the burden of proof. What's to say it isn't an escaped or released pet?
:I happen to know K.E. in person and I respect him as a "field herper" but he is not a papered Herpetologist. Until a proper case has been made and someone with the proper academic credentials substantiates K.E.'s claim, they have to remain just that (unsubstantiated claims)----and shouldn't be stated as fact in my humble opinion.
:Thanks for your interest in my views. I hope I have adequately explained them.
:Regards,
:S.B. O'Gill
SBOGILL,
I am not the sort to try to throw my weight around because it is unproductive and makes one look like a fool. I have seen numerous "papers" written by "herpetologists" that were absolute hogwash. As to my "unpaperedness" I currently have a paper on Morelia that is under peer review. It will certainly have to be edited, but will more than likely go through and you will see it in Herp Review soon enough. My point is that when it is published it will not make the first bit of difference as to whether or not this snake is what I say it is. I could still be lying to you no matter what sort of title or how many letters come after my name. I will agree with you that all of my snakes are the "claims" that you suggest that they are and nothing more. People can believe me or they can choose not to. Frankly, I don't care. I have the snakes, they are not for sale, and I think they are first rate specimens. I also know it to be a fact that they are where I say they are from. It sure is fun to argue though, so keep it coming. K.E.
