I failed to let you guys in on an interesting tid-bit. I am currently involved in a timber rattlesnake telemetry project. One of the many observations that we have made in our study is that our animals have varying scale counts. We have found 23 and 25 in the same population. I doubt they are escaped pets. I have a large number of Jefferson co, KY black rats and will compare them to the freaks, but I expect to find some variation. I will also count the ventrals and see what I come up with, but to be honest, I would expect to find variation between males and females. Exciting stuff!!
