Hi Jeff,
Samuel Li from Hong Kong breeds Mandarins from the Hunan Province in China. Mandarins from this locale have, to the best of my knowledge, completely red scales. You can see a photo of a juvenile specimen on the website from Herpafauna Indonesia.
By the way, why can't I use a space between my forename and lastname, just like you?
