:I hear lots of chat about them but have never seen one, would love to get my hands on some Leucistic Obseletas that don't have that bug eyed thing going on ;-)

I certainly hope that I'll be producing some in the future that I can guarantee don't carry it. I'm taking one of DG's "buggy" babies to use for test-breeding with my Bianca a couple of years hence. Should she produce a litter that is free of it, then she'll be proven. I'll also use him to test-breed with his half-sis, and all being well, she'll be free of it too, but at this point she's a 50% possible het. Once I've proven those two girls, I'll have to take one of them, or one of their het daughters (should they both prove not to be carriers), to the DG male to prove whether or not he's het for it. I'm hoping that they'll all three prove free, but we'll have to wait and see (and I'll have to be swimming in a pool of good luck).

:I've decided that Leucistic Black rats are like the Snuffleupagus on Seasame St. maybe only Big Bird can see them ...

I've seen pics of what were purported to be leucy blacks. I'm not prepared to say they aren't, but I do wonder about them. I'd really like to see the results of DNA analysis of them, but it won't be me that gets it done (at least not in the foreseeable future).

:Any thoughts are welcome...................

Is there a point at which you would consider them to be E. o. o. even if they had a small infusion of lindheimeri? I'm thinking, if you knew the percentage was only as little as 6.25%, would you still consider them total mutts? Is there ANY point at which the infusion becomes so minimal that they would lose that label?

:Hey Tricia I'm counting the days now, he, he, heeeee

Me, too! :-))

Tricia
