My brother in law called me up last night and said he had a snake in his yard and wanted me to come and get it. By the time I got there it had gotten into the woods and was long gone. He is scared of any snake and wouldnt catch it before I got there. Anyway I asked him to describe it and he said it was a "cow snake". So here I am scratching my head and saying "a what?" He described it as a tannish color with brown blothes and about 3' long. So do you have any idea what kind of snake has a local name of "cow snake"? Im a transplanted Missourian, and have never heard of this until last night. I was thinking it was either an eastern milk or maybe a prairie king snake. Had to laugh, some of the local names given to snakes......
