Here is a pic of my black rat snake.
Draybar's is definitely a baby black rat snake. Some black rats never loose their pattern, while others get darker and the pattern is harder to see, and others get jet black. Just depends on the locality. Here in Kentucky, the black rats come in a variety of pattern/color variations. My W/C black rat is a year old this month, and still has his pattern. He will turn out to be the "normal" Kentucky locale black rat.
:The blotching on this snake's body is more reminiscent of a hatchling corn snake, than of a black rat. Certainly, the head looks like a rat snake, but I think this snake may be an intergrade or hybrid.
