I think you are getting E. o. obsoleta confused with E. g. guttata. And you are also wrong about another one of your facts: The Copperbelly Water Snake is the only protected species here in Kentucky as per the attached web link.
So you Kentucky locality posters keep posting away.

:For all posting pics of KY locality corns, be careful. All reptiles are protected in KY and I believe the corn snake is either on the state threatened or endangered species list. You are posting pics with your names attached and it may get you into some trouble. I don't want anyone to get in trouble or this forum to be a place for DNR to hunt suspects so please be careful what you post.
