:Great snake! I love black rats. Sounds like he is on his way to becoming domesticated. One suggestion: Although regular handling will be important if you want him to be tame, give him 2 or 3 days after each feeding before you pick him up. If you handle him too soon it is possible that he will eventually puke up (regurgitate) his meal, and you could get into a bad cycle. Good luck with him. Duffy
::This is a picture of a little Black Rat snake I caught a few weeks ago at work. The poor little thing looked like it was starving and dehydrated when I found it but it has since had three feedings, for a total of 5 pinkies, and is doing well.
::The little guy is definately spunky. It doesn't take well to being handled and although I make it a point to handle it daily, he "musks" me every time. He at least doesn't try to bite any more but I truthfully think that would be better then the musk...lol

:Good Point about the handling.
They are more defensive when they are full after a meal.
I try to be carefull and support the body but you ARE right. I should wait several days after feeding him and then go back to the everyday handling in hopes of calming him down.
Thanks
Jimmy
