I once found a baby in the baylor mts that had had a run in with a predator and its skin was torn. I kept it (out of pity) and raised it for a couple of years.
By the time it was 3 feet, it had a large white patch where the injury had been. The patch had perfectly normal looking scales, just no pigment. If you hadn't seen the injury, you would think it was piebald at that 2-3 inch section of the body.
This may be what is going on with yours as well.
