Most juvs are defensive. My experience with wild caught adults has been as follows (for pops where I have dealt with > 10 animals) -
- obsoleta x spiloides (in South Carolina) - pretty docile as adults
- obsoleta x quad (coastal SC greenish rats) - calm, but not trustworthy
- Missouri obsoleta - reasonably calm adults
- Okeechobee Everglades/Yellow Rats - calm adults. Tail rattling, some coiling but not bad once in the hand.
- TX rats - some are very defensive, others are quite docile. Overall, one of the less trustworthy populations I have dealt with. East TX specimens are snappier than Central TX specimens.
