pool that we currently have with regard to whether a person has pure Ridleyi and/or Blue Beauties. They may intdegrade some due to overlap of range in the wild. That's why we ask so many times about locality. If I'm getting a ridleyi, I would want one from outside the integration zone. If I want and am getting a blue beauty, it's not too much to ask for it to as pure as possible. If I have and breed Great Basin Gophers then I would do my collecting in areas outside of an integration zone. Unfortunately, someone will breed a deserticola to a catenifer for some reason and in the future I may have to somehow tell someone that the ones they have and are breeding are crosses. The person probably won't believe me and will think I'm bashing their snake.
Even if there is an integration zone, crossing a blue beauty and a ridleyi isn't necessary the same as the ones that do it in the wild. Snakes that overlap and have been integrading for 1000 of years are more adaptable to the cross breeding. The habitat, environment, food, etc. is the same in this overlap region. The same snakes outside the integrade zone may be in a different habitat, environment, and have skinks and lizard vs. rodents to feed on.
