Actually with corn x Great Plains crosses, you might get some locality info. For instance, I have some locality guttata and emoryi and would like to cross them because I love the creamsicle corns. In this case I'd know exactly what went into the cross.
The corn crosses are different, however, because it is such a widely kept species, that they are essentially domesticated pets. I don't feel the same about any of the Asian ratsnakes. It would be a shame to lose the identity of locality animals before we even realized how different they are. I think these two subspecies are pretty well established, but there is still new blood hitting the hobby and these snakes could get confusing.
Look what's happened with the Taiwans. This tremendous animal shouldn't be diluted with genes from a different subspecies. Soon people who can show their's are pure will be preferred breeders.
Just my opinion.
