Some of us feel the same way about the cross you describe, and for the same reasons--why not appreciate the "real thing"? So this might be a chance for people to think twice...
Maybe this is a chance for people to ask themselves whether if they feel that way about the rat crosses, they should revise their thinking about the lampropeltis hybrids, too, and bring their points of view into accord. Hypocrisy is logic's way of telling us one of our positions is inconsistent. An opportunity to move forward.
