It is good that you are becoming informed before getting any animal. My experience thus far with a small yellow rat that I got from Dwight is all positive. She nipped me when I first got her, but I would be cranky too after being shipped! Since then, she has been very docile, eats well, and enjoys climbing on branches in her enclosure. In comparison with my corns, she tends to be out and about more often. If you're looking for a greatly under-rated and very interesting snake, the yellow rat is for you. Let us know what you decide.
:I'm debating getting into yellow rat snakes, albeit I'm not very familiar with them. Can anyone give me some basic info on them and/or point me to some websites or other reading materials? Do they have any other common names besides 'yellow ratsnakes'? How does their care/temperment/requirements/other attributes differ from those of say... a cornsnake?
