im not an expert but have dealt with many asian ratsnakes before. I have had taiwans, chinese, and have dealt with blues. Most of them eat VERY well and A LOT! but occasionally u might get a weird one that will only eat in a smaller enclosure, like a small rubbermaid. my chinese are very nippy but the taiwans I had were very calm.. but they let u know when they wanna go back. So i wuold choose the taiwans for a first asian ratsnake... just my opinion
