Crab-Eating Water Snake
(Fordonia leucobalia)They were probably talking about the Crab-Eating Water Snake (Fordonia leucobalia) also known as the White-bellied Mangrove Snake. Their area of distribution does include Singapore (and most of SE Asia). This is a small (60-100cm), rear-fanged species that feeds mostly on crabs, shrimp and other small crustacians. Not even close to a ratsnake (especially of the genus Elaphe).
