cedar climbing structure?

I just built a climbing/perching structure for one of my black rats. The wood I used may be cedar. I know that folks will say not to use cedar bedding...but what about an unfinished cedar structure? It is simple and basic, and if I have to redo it with a different wood I will. Thanks. Duffy
