That black rat you have from Hardin county is pretty awesome. I live in Hardin county and see them in my yard quite often. I got my black rat from over in bullit county, shepherdsville area. Gotta be my favorite snakes.

: very nice, I think Ky black rats are awesome. I think the black rats in the Jackson purchase area are probably intergrades with the gray rat. As for the rest of the state, I think they are E.o.obseleta. Considering the black rats huge range, I would think there would be considerable variation. Just my take on it, no basis in scientific data on my theory on this.
