Thanks, Glenn (I think, or was it Nancy).
Great information on the maintenance and husbandry of these guys. Especially informative was the part about being fish eaters. That was unexpected. I really appreciate the time and thoughtfulness it took to explain so much. These sound like terribly interesting snakes to work with. When you switch over from fish, you're talking about switching to mice, right? Also, I was wondering if they are constrictors? This question may have been asked before, but it's been too long to remember.
Seventeen eggs, that's a lot. I didn't know they were so prolific. They should be gracing many a herp room soon. I sure hope your female makes it ok, and passes those two more eggs. As I said in my post below, my bimac passed three more eggs after I collected her first deposit. I'm beginning to think it's best to leave them sit with the eggs a couple days before taking them out.
There might be a couple more breeders that have eggs of these guys. I know Rex Knight was trying to breed his, but don't know if he got eggs, or not. People are often very busy and can't keep up with our posts. I just happen to be home for a stretch and will try to do what I can while I'm here. I'll send people your way too, if they ask me about this species.
BTW, I think Rhyncophis is as much a ratsnake as say, copperhead rats, or ladder snakes, two that I can remember that are in a different genus now. I can't think of a better forum that they could be on, and I'm glad we have them here. Thanks for the great input....TC.
