Yes, they are being raised by several ratsnake enthusiasts, some of whom frequent this forum including a couple friends of mine, not just the big breeders. I have looked at them, but have held off for two main reasons. One is that I'm holding out for some E. frenata (also green), and two, is that I'm somewhat worried about keeping a tropical, semi-arboreal species.
Normally I don't keep species that come from the tropics because of the conditions associated with maintaining them. I believe the longnose rats come mainly from N. Vietnam (tropical), but that they may be montane also (cooler). I think there needs to be more info on their background and maintanence requirements which will help with their popularity.
Most people don't want to invest large sums (I believe they are still pretty expensive) if they aren't sure they can manage the care for the snakes. Pictures of snakes are great. Pics showing the snakes feeding, or other conditions, are even better. Discussion of requirements, captive husbandry, etc, with the pics, are fantastic. Thanks for listening to my ramble. TC.
