Jeff, I don't keep Taiwans, but I do have an assortment of Chinese stripe-tails and here is what one looks like....
Look at how far back the markings start on the neck, and look at the fact that they are not blotches, but more like banding. Chinese stripers don't get nearly as large as Taiwans. This snake is two years old and only about 30-36 inches. You said your Taiwans were about 4 ft. and I assume not much over a year old. Also, I think you could mate them next spring and it won't affect their growth, but like I said, I don't keep Taiwans, so can't prove that.
