Nice Bairds Rat! Well, I guess all Bairds can not be calm (ha) Did I understand you collected when you stated that your Edwards female layed eggs? Also, are you the individual that collected the Lost Maples Bairds Rat/Texas Rat naturally occuring intergrade? Do you still have that pic? Please feel free to call me or e-mail me personally at kdiehl@saws.org.
Thanks Ken, Boerne Texas

: Found this young bairdi on the boy scout road in the Davis Mts. last week. Feisty little tyke! He was released.
: I also found a Trans-Pecos Rat on the same road that night and another hunter found a Great Plains rat to complete the rat snake hattrick! (Actually, the guttata is a better find for that area than the other two!)
: I didn't mind being bitten by the bairdi I found a couple of days earlier, however. I went back to Edwards county to find a female for the male I had collected earlier this spring. First snake of the night - gravid female bairdi! She laid 8 big eggs a few days after I picked her up. Not a bad night!
