Help! Vomiting Rat Snake

Hey,
I really need some help with my rat snake, he recently vomited a rat that he had just recently eaten. I'm gonna take him to the vet of course, but does anyone have any suggestions as to why this happened. I know he hasn't been poisoned and he seems to be fine now. Any suggestions or places I could go for info?
