i killed the other 2 myself (dropped them in a standard mousetrap... youd be surprised how long i had to think to come up with that method of killing them!) and put them in the freezer. I thought it was really weird that the 2 gray ones died and the 2 white ones were fine. I would like to breed my own mice but the smell is just too much. Im living in a friends basement and I KNOW he wouldnt like it! I think im already pushing it by having a snake here!

anyway, the mice were alive when I bought them, but a few hours later, they were dead. There are no bite marks that i could see, so they werent gored by the other mice. its really weird...

: : greetings. yesterday, I bought 4 aduly mice from a petstore (2 white and 2 gray. They were in the car for about 3 hours and when I got back, the 2 gray ones were dead and the white ones were fine. I was kinda worried about the car being hot, but it really wasnt bad in there. anyway, by the time I got home and get these dead mice in the freezer, they were dead for about 8 hours or so. Are these still good for feeding, or are they expired?

: After 8 hrs. I would think they would be pretty stiff, but probably not much decomposed. Since they are adults, you would only feed them to a large snake which could probably handle it as long as you could soften up the mice a little before feeding. One thing I'd look at though is what the mice died from. Hopefully it was the lack of fresh air and not some kind of pathogen. I don't like feeding anything that hasn't been frozen sufficient time, or that isn't from my own colonies. I keep my mice really clean and feed them a select combination of foods, so I don't worry about diseases or anything. I learned to breed my own mice a long time ago, otherwise I wouldn't use live mice at all.
