This male Bairds was collected on HWY 277 on a road cut last Sat....and was given to me while I was collecting. I also will be recieving 1.2 Fort Davis Mt. animals along with a pair of Impact Reptiles Bairds in the very near future.
As Joe Forks Stated on the alterna Forum, "I also have a record from "Bear Creek Scout Camp", Highway 16 which is very near the town of "San Geronimo" IN Bexar County. Across the street neighbor was a Boy Scout and caught the animal in that camp. He brought it home and kept it several
years. It was pure bairds." Bairds have also been reported in Bexar County near Medina Lake, I will try to collect one the next significant rain event.
I also wanted to share a thought of mine on why Bairds have red interspacing between the scales.....my thoughts are when disturbed they "buff-up" which shows alot more red interspacing when compared to their relaxed state. This reddish color may indicate to the intruder as a warning of a venomous or hazardous animal, thoughts?
