O.K., yesterday I posted a question regarding Black rat temperament and was given several great responses. However, today I was out searching around some wooded farmland and found a 50" CARBON COPY of the Black rat I already have! This new one is as tame as can be and was that way from the moment I first picked him up! So, I had specimen no. 2 before I was even able to get home and read the replies! I'm excited about the possibility of breeding these guys one day, provided I have a male and a female. Another question, though- The new guy is going into temporary quarentine, of course, but when I got him home I was comparing him to my current black rat. Now, I've never bred anything before, but when they momentarily got close enough to smell each other, they both twitched and jerked their entire bodies. Is this breeding behavior? Neither one of them have been intentionally cycled for breeding. Still, it was cool to see. Thanx again for all the great replies!
Phil
